Concept design

Hair salon website design: Studio Lumière.

Studio Lumière is a fictional hair and beauty studio we invented to show how we'd approach hair salon website design for an independent salon in Southsea, Portsmouth. It's a working concept site — a stylish look, a full treatment price list and a booking form that takes under a minute on a phone. The salon isn't real, but the thinking is exactly what we'd bring to yours.

A small studio that wants to look as good as its work.

Our imaginary client is a three-chair salon in Southsea with a dedicated nail and brow technician. They're busy, their work is excellent, and most new clients find them on Instagram — then leave to look for prices and a way to book, and some never come back.

Salon clients want to know three things before they commit: does this place feel like me, what will it cost, and when can I get in? A site that hides prices behind “call for a quote” or sends people to a clunky third-party booking page loses them at exactly the moment they were ready to book.

The goal: a site that feels as calm and polished as the studio itself, shows every price up front, and makes requesting an appointment quicker than sending a DM.

A hair salon website design built around prices and booking.

Each section removes a reason not to book. Here's what's on the page and why it's there.

01

A full treatment price list

Cut and finish, colour, nails, and brows and lashes, each with a duration and a “from” price. A short note explains that prices depend on hair length and are confirmed at consultation — honest, and it stops surprises at the till. Clear prices are the single biggest thing salon clients look for.

02

Booking in a few taps

Tappable treatment types, then the treatment, who with, a preferred date and a mobile number. The form works as an appointment request the salon confirms by text. If you already use an online booking system, we can link to it or bring its booking widget into the page instead.

03

“Next available” in the hero

A small line under the buttons shows the next free slot. It's a gentle nudge to book now, and on a real site it can be updated in seconds or pulled from your booking system.

04

An editorial, high-end look

A high-contrast serif, plenty of white space and soft blush and bronze tones give the site the feel of a beauty magazine. Arched and circular photo frames echo the round mirrors in the studio, so the site and the salon feel like the same place.

05

The policies people worry about

Patch tests, deposits and cancellation terms are explained in plain words near the booking form. Clients see the rules before they book, and the salon spends less time on awkward conversations later.

06

Gift vouchers and practical details

A bold voucher band catches people shopping for presents, and the “find us” section covers the address, parking, late-night opening and full weekly hours — everything someone needs on the day of their appointment.

Who a site like this suits.

This approach works for any appointment-based beauty business where clients want to see the look, the prices and the next free slot before they get in touch.

  • Hair salons and barbers that want a clear price list and more bookings direct.
  • Nail technicians and nail bars with a set menu of treatments and add-ons.
  • Brow, lash and beauty studios that need to explain patch tests and aftercare.
  • Mobile and home-based stylists who want to look established and take requests online.
  • Salons moving off a booking-app profile that want a site of their own to send people to.

What it would take to build yours.

A site like Studio Lumière is a bespoke business website: designed from scratch around your treatments and your clients, and built by hand with hosting included. Business websites start from £1,500, with a fixed written quote before any work starts and nothing to pay upfront. If you want to sell gift vouchers or products online with a checkout, that's an e-commerce website. See our pricing for add-ons such as content management, so you can update your own price list.

We work with salons and small businesses across Portsmouth and Southsea, with video calls booked around your appointments. Find out more about our web design in Portsmouth, or view the live concept on your phone to see how booking feels.
