Terms and conditions

Key points

  • Nothing is charged until you agree. Every piece of work starts with a written quote, and you're only charged for what you've agreed to in writing.
  • No long-term contracts. Ongoing services run on a rolling monthly agreement, so you can stop when you need to.
  • Some services are charged annually. If you cancel one of these, it stays in place and we keep supporting it until its renewal date. It then won't renew.
  • Nothing upfront. The first steps cost nothing: a video call, a written quote and, for a new website or a redesign, a mock-up of how it will look. For website projects, you pay once you're happy for your site to go live.
  • How you pay. Payments are taken through GoCardless: regular payments by Direct Debit, and hourly work as a one-off payment. Paid work begins, or for websites is finalised, once your payment has cleared.
  • Your data stays accessible to you. We host it securely, and you can see or export it whenever you want.

This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply, together with the quote you've agreed.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the services MJ Hub provides to businesses, including sole traders and organisations acting for their business. They work alongside the written quote for your work: if the two ever disagree, your agreed quote takes priority for that piece of work.

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.

2. Who we are

MJ Hub is a partnership between Marcel Mulders and Jessica Williams, based in Southampton, UK. When these terms say "we" or "us", they mean MJ Hub; "you" means the business we're working with.

To get in touch, use our contact form or email the address in the footer of this page. Marcel and Jessica are your primary contacts; if either is unavailable at short notice, another member of our team will help.

3. Our services

We provide:

  • Web design: websites, online shops, redesigns, hosting and support, and Google and Facebook advertising.
  • HR & finance: HR consulting, tailored HR software, and Xero setup and integrations.
  • Data & AI: data analysis and reporting, AI consulting and tools built with Claude, and business proposals.

What's included in your work is whatever your agreed quote describes. All meetings take place by video call, at a time that suits you.

4. Quotes: nothing is charged until you agree

Before any work starts, we send you a written quote setting out what we'll do, the price, how it's charged (one-off, monthly or annually) and the expected timeline.

  • You're never charged for work you haven't agreed. A quote only becomes an agreement when you accept it in writing, for example by email.
  • Changes are agreed first. If you want to add to or change the work, we'll tell you if it affects the price and get your agreement before going ahead.
  • Free before you commit. Initial conversations, your written quote and, for a new website or a redesign, a mock-up of how it will look cost nothing and don't commit you to anything.
  • Going ahead. Once you accept your quote, the paid work begins when your payment has cleared, unless your quote or our website says otherwise. Website projects work differently: see section 5.

5. Prices and payment

  • Published prices. Our website prices and hourly rates are on our pricing page. Other services are quoted individually.
  • Nothing upfront. You never pay before you've seen what you're getting. Anything we provide before you commit, such as the mock-up for a new website or a redesign, is free, and you're under no obligation to go ahead.
  • Website projects. We design and build your site and share it with you as it comes together. You pay once you're happy for it to go live. Your payment then triggers the finalising work, and the site goes live once payment has cleared.
  • Other requested work. Work is invoiced in line with your agreed quote and begins once payment has cleared, unless your quote or our website says otherwise.
  • Hourly work. Changes charged at our hourly rates are taken as a one-off payment through GoCardless.
  • Regular payments. Monthly and annual services are collected by Direct Debit through GoCardless, who process the payment on our behalf. Your quote shows the amount and when each collection is taken, and the Direct Debit Guarantee protects your payments.
  • Separate costs. Some costs belong to other companies rather than us, such as your advertising budget on Google or Meta, and your Xero subscription. These are always kept separate from our fees and agreed with you.
  • Claude is included. Where we use Claude for your work, it's part of our service. You don't need to buy any AI licences.

6. No contracts: rolling monthly agreements

We don't tie you into long-term contracts. Ongoing services, such as advertising management, ongoing HR support, monthly reporting and our tailored HR platform, run on a rolling monthly agreement.

  • Month to month. The agreement continues each month until you or we decide to end it.
  • Stopping a monthly service. Let us know through the contact form or by email. The service runs to the end of the month you've already paid for, and we'll stop your Direct Debit so you aren't charged for the next one. Any notice period specific to your service is set out in your quote.
  • Per-user services. Our HR platform is charged per user each month. Changes to your platform are included in that fee.

7. Services charged annually

Some services are charged once a year, collected by Direct Debit through GoCardless. Your quote will always say if a service is billed annually and when it renews.

  • Cancelling an annual service. If you cancel, the service stays active and we keep supporting it until its renewal date. It then won't renew, and you won't be charged again.
  • Reminders. We'll remind you before an annual service renews, so you have time to decide.

8. Changes and ongoing work

  • Websites and software we've built. Changes after launch are charged at our published hourly rates: £50 an hour for jobs of an hour or less, and £30 an hour for anything longer. We'll tell you the likely time before starting, and payment is taken as a one-off payment through GoCardless.
  • Our HR platform. Changes are included in the per-user fee.
  • Hosting. Hosting is included with the websites we build.

9. What we need from you

  • Accurate information about your business, and the content, photos and access we need, when we need them.
  • Feedback and approvals in reasonable time. If work is held up waiting for something from you, timelines may move.
  • Confirmation that you have the right to use anything you give us, such as logos, photos and text.
  • Responsibility for your own business decisions, including employment decisions and what you advertise.

10. Your content, data and accounts

  • Your content and data stay yours. Anything you give us, and the business data in systems we host for you, belongs to you.
  • Always accessible. We host your data securely, and you can see or export it at any time.
  • Accounts in your name. Where we set up accounts for you, such as advertising accounts, we set them up in your business's name.
  • What we build. Your quote sets out what you'll own once the work is paid for, and anything we keep, such as tools we use across clients.

11. Data protection

We follow UK data protection law. Where we handle personal information on your behalf, for example employee records in an HR platform or customer data for analysis, we do so on your instructions, and we agree in writing how it's looked after and who can access it. Our privacy policy covers how we handle information about people who contact us.

12. Advice and results

  • HR. Our HR consulting is practical HR support, not legal advice. Where a matter needs an employment solicitor, we'll tell you.
  • Finance. Our financial guidance isn't regulated financial advice, and we aren't accountants. We work alongside your accountant.
  • Advertising and search. We work hard to get results, but nobody can guarantee rankings, leads or sales, and we won't.
  • AI. Work produced with Claude is checked by a person before it reaches you, but you make the final decisions.

13. Other companies' services

Some of our work relies on services run by other companies, such as Xero, Google, Meta, Anthropic (Claude), Cloudflare and GitHub. Their own terms apply to those services. We can't control their prices, features or availability, but we'll help you deal with any changes that affect the work we've done for you.

14. Our responsibility to you

We'll provide our services with reasonable care and skill. If something we've done isn't right, tell us and we'll put it right.

We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for indirect losses such as lost profits or business opportunities. Our total responsibility for any piece of work is limited to the amount you've paid us for it in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

15. Ending a service

  • You can end a monthly service as described in section 6, and an annual service as described in section 7.
  • We may end a service if invoices go unpaid after reminders, or if a service is used unlawfully. We'll give you notice and a chance to put things right first wherever we can.
  • When a service ends, we'll help you take your data with you, and you'll pay for work completed up to that point.

16. Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything we've done, please tell us through the contact form or by email. We reply within one business day and will work with you to put things right.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time and will change the date at the top when we do. Changes don't affect work you've already agreed. If a change affects an ongoing service, we'll tell you before it applies.

18. General

  • If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still do so later.
  • Only you and MJ Hub have rights under these terms.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
